Haoran Yu is the founder and chairman of Jisuanke and a researcher of Jisuan Institute of Technology, Jisuanke. While praised because of his leadership at Jisuanke, he still actively devote himself to research and teaching.
His research work spans human-computer interaction in computing education, online learning, and software engineering tools. He is now building tools that allow people to learn programming and concepts in computer science in an interactive manner. He is also exploring the motivation and cognitive paths of novice students who learn to program based on the interactional data of programming.
His teaching work is for both secondary school students and college students. He won the Excellent Secondary School Instructor of Olympiad in Informatics Award of Beijing in 2017. He is involved in the teaching of software engineering related courses as lecturer or guest lecturer at Tsinghua University, Peking University, Nankai University, Hefei University of Technology and University of Science and Technology of China since 2015.
